Desert Regional Medical Center will host a ribbon cutting for its new linear accelerator on December 14, from 11 a.m. to noon, at the Comprehensive Cancer Center in Palm Springs. The event, co-hosted by the Palm Springs Chamber of Commerce, includes a dedication ceremony and a guided tour.
The technology will provide patients with faster, more precise and accurate cancer treatment. “This new linear accelerator will allow our patients to receive radiation treatment in as little as one minute,” says Dr. Amir Lavaf, director of radiation oncology. “This means our patients could be in and out in less than 30 minutes.” Speed is just one of the benefits. Tumors can be targeted with 0.1 millimeters of precision, ensuring cancerous tissue is destroyed with limited damage to other tissue.
DRMC’s Comprehensive Care Center welcomes the community to attend this free event. Information: Call 760-323-6625.
